Hadith 375
۞
On this same day, after the gathering, the virtuous scholar Abu Jaʿfar Muhammad b. ʿAli b. al-Husayn b. Musa b. Babawayh al-Qummi (RA) narrated to us, saying: My father (may Allah have mercy on him) narrated to us, saying: ʿAbdullah b. al-Hasan al-Muaddib narrated to us from Ahmad b. ʿAli al-Isfahani, from Ibrahim b. Muhammad al-Thaqafi, who said: Abu Ghassan al-Nahdi narrated to us, saying: Yahya b. Salamah b. Kuhayl narrated to us from his father, from Abu Idris, from al-Musayyib b. Najabah, who said
It was said to ʿAli (a): Tell us about the companions of Muhammad (SAW). Tell us about Abu Dharr al-Ghifari.
He said: "He learned knowledge and sealed it, binding it with a tight seal."
They said: "What about Hudhayfah?"
He said: "He learned the names of the hypocrites."
They said: "What about ʿAmmar b. Yasir?"
He said: "A believer filled to his core with faith; he forgets, but when reminded, he remembers."
It was said: "What about ʿAbdullah b. Masʿud?"
He said: "He recited the Qurʾan, and it descended upon him."
They said: "Tell us about Salman al-Farisi."
He said: "He attained the first knowledge and the last knowledge, and he is an inexhaustible sea. He is one of us, the Ahl al-Bayt."
They said: "Tell us about yourself, O Commander of the Faithful."
He said: "Whenever I asked, I was given, and when I remained silent, I was initiated."
9 - وفي هذا اليوم أيضا بعد المجلس حدثنا الشيخ الفقيه أبو جعفر محمد بن علي بن الحسين بن موسى بن بابويه القمي (رضي الله عنه)، قال: حدثنا أبي (رحمه الله)، قال: حدثنا عبد الله بن الحسن المؤدب، عن أحمد بن علي بن الاصبهاني، عن إبراهيم بن محمد الثقفي، قال: حدثنا أبو غسان النهدي، قال: حدثنا يحيى بن سلمة بن كهيل، عن أبيه، عن أبي إدريس، عن المسيب بن نجبة، عن علي (عليه السلام) أنه قيل له: حدثنا عن أصحاب محمد (صلى الله عليه وآله)، حدثنا عن أبي ذر الغفاري. قال
علم العلم ثم أوكاه، وربط عليه رباطا شديدا. قالوا: فعن حذيفة، قال: تعلم أسماء المنافقين. قالوا: فعن عمار بن ياسر. قال: مؤمن ملئ مشاشه إيمانا، نسي، إذا ذكر ذكر. قيل: فعن عبد الله بن مسعود. قال: قرأ القرآن فنزل عنده. قالوا: فحدثنا عن سلمان الفارسي. قال: أدرك العلم الاول والآخر، وهو بحر لا ينزح، وهو منا أهل البيت. قالوا: فحدثنا عنك، يا أمير المؤمنين. قال: كنت إذا سألت أعطيت، وإذا سكت ابتديت (3).
