Hadith 265
My father (ra) narrated to us. He said: Sa`d b. `Abdullah narrated to me. He said: Muhammad b. `Isa b. `Ubayd narrated to us from Muhammad b. Shu`ayb al-Sayrafi from al-Haytham Abi Kahmas from Abi `Abdillah al-Sadiq (as). He said
A believer will benefit from six things after his death: (1) a righteous child that seeks repentance on his behalf, (2) a mus`haf that he recited from, (3) wells that he built, (4) plants that he grew, (5) running water that he gave in charity, and (6) [establishing] a beautiful tradition that is practiced after him.
2 - حدثنا أبي (رضي الله عنه)، قال: حدثني سعد بن عبد الله، قال: حدثنا محمد بن عيسى بن عبيد، عن محمد بن شعيب الصيرفي، عن الهيثم أبي كهمس، عن أبي عبد الله الصادق (عليه السلام)، قال
ست خصال ينتفع بها المؤمن من بعد موته: ولد صالح يستغفر له، ومصحف يقرأ منه، وقليب (2) يحفره، وغرس يغرسه، وصدقة ماء يجريه، وسنة حسنة يؤخذ بها بعده (1).

Hadith 268
Malik b. Anas said: And I heard al-Sadiq (as) say: It was said to Amir al-Mu’minin (as): Why do you not purchase a highborn horse? He said: I have no need for it, for I do not flee from one who attacks me, nor do I attack one who flees from me.
5 - قال مالك بن أنس: وسمعت الصادق (عليه السلام) يقول: قيل لامير المؤمنين (عليه السلام): لم لا ت‍شتري فرسا عتيقا (1)؟ قال: لا حاجة لي فيه، فأنا لا أفر ممن كر علي، ولا أكر على من فر مني (2).

Hadith 269
Ahmad b. Muhammad the fair goldsmith narrated to us. He said: `Isa b. Muhammad al-`Alawi narrated to us. He said: Ahmad b. Salim al-Kufi narrated to us. He said: al-Husayn b. `Abd al-Wahid narrated to us. He said: Harb b. al-Hasan narrated to us. He said: Ahmad b. Isma`il b. Sadaqa narrated to us from Abi’l Jarud from Abi Ja`far Muhammad b. `Ali al-Baqir (as). He said
When this verse, “And We have recorded everything in a Manifest Imam” (36:12), was revealed to the Messenger of Allah (s), two men stood from their sitting and said: O Messenger of Allah! Is it the Torah? He said: No. They said: Is it the Gospel? He said: No. They said: Is it the Quran? He said: No. Then, Amir al-Mu’minin `Ali came forward; so, the Messenger of Allah (s) said: It is he – he is the Imam in whom Allah has recorded the knowledge of everything.
6 - حدثنا أحمد بن محمد الصائغ العدل، قال: حدثنا عيسى بن محمد العلوي، قال: حدثنا أحمد بن سلام الكوفي، قال: حدثنا الحسين بن عبد الواحد، قال: حدثنا حرب بن الحسن، قال: حدثنا أحمد بن إسماعيل بن صدقة، عن أبي الجارود، عن أبي جعفر محمد بن علي الباقر (عليه السلام)، قال
لما نزلت هذه الآية على رسول الله (صلى الله عليه وآله) (وكل شئ أحصيناه في إمام مبين) (3) قام رجلان من مجلسهما، فقالا: يا رسول الله، هو التوراة؟ قال: لا. قالا: فهو الانجيل؟ قال: لا. قالا فهو القرآن؟ قال: لا. قال: فأقبل أمير المؤمنين علي، فقال رسول الله (صلى الله عليه وآله): هو هذا، إنه الامام الذي أحصى الله تبارك وتعالى فيه علم كل شئ (4).:
