Hadith 364

He said: Abu Bakr Muhammad ibn Umar al-Ji’abi reported to me from Abul Abbas Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Saeed al-Hamdani, who reported from Abu Awanah Musa ibn Yusuf ibn Rashid, who reported from Abd al-Salaam ibn Asim, who reported from Ishaq ibn Ismail Hamwayh, who reported from Amru ibn Abu Qais, from Maysarah ibn Habib, from al-Minhal ibn Amru, who said
A man from Banu Tamim reported to me that we were with Amirul Mu’mineen, peace be upon him, at Dhu Qar, and we thought we were to be seized on that day. Then I heard him say: "By Allah! We will overcome this dissenting group. And these two, Talha and Zubair, will be killed and their troops will be uprooted." Al-Tameem said: I went to Abdullah ibn al-Abbas and said to him: "Do you hear what your cousin says?" He said: "Do not make haste, wait till we see what happens." When the result of Basrah battle became known, I came to him and said: "Your cousin was right in what he said." He said: "We the companions of the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him and his progeny, used to say that he has given him (i.e. ‘Ali) eighty pledges exclusively. Perhaps this was one of them."
5 - قال: أخبرني أبو بكر محمد بن عمر الجعابي قال: حدثنا أبو العباس أحمد بن محمد بن سعيد الهمداني قال: حدثنا أبو عوانة موسى بن يوسف بن راشد قال: حدثنا عبد السلام بن عاصم قال: حدثنا إسحاق بن إسماعيل حمويه قال: حدثنا عمرو بن أبي قيس، عن ميسرة بن حبيب، عن المنهال بن عمرو قال: أخبرني رجل من بني تميم قال
كنا مع أمير المؤمنين علي بن أبي طالب عليه السلام بذي قار ونحن نرى إنا سنختطف في يومنا، فسمعته يقول: والله لنظهرن على هذه الفرقة، ولنقتلن هذين الرجلين يعني طلحة والزبير، ولنستبيحن عسكرهما. قال التميمي: فأتيت عبد الله بن العباس فقلت له: أما ترى إلى ابن عمك وما يقول؟ فقال: لا تعجل حتى ننظر ما يكون. فلما كان من أمر البصرة ما كان، أتيته فقلت: لا أرى ابن عمك إلا قد صدق [في مقاله]، فقال: ويحك! إنا كنا نتحدث أصحاب محمد أن النبي صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم عهد إليه ثمانين عهدا لم يعهد شيئا منها إلى أحد غيره، فلعل هذا مما عهده إليه.
