Hadith 17
۞
Mohammed bin al-Hasan bin al-Waleed, Allah may have mercy upon him, narrated to me from Mohammed bin al-Hasan as-Saffar from Mohammed bin al-Hussein bin Abu al-Khattab… that Abdullah bin Ziyad related: In Mina, we greeted Abu Abdullah (a) and said, “
O son of Allah’s Messenger, we are itinerant people. We cannot attend your sessions. Hence, we ask you to give us some advices.” The Imam (a) said: Cling to God-fearing, truthfulness, fulfillment of the trusts that are deposited with you, good company with whoever accompanies you, spread of salutation, and serving of food. Offer prayers in the mosques of people, visit the ailed, and participate in their funeral ceremonies. My father told me that the adherents of us –the Prophet’s household- were the best of their folks. The jurisprudent of any people was the Shiite. The muezzin of any people was the Shiite. The most trustful of any people was the Shiite. The most dependable of any people was the Shiite. Thus, you should carry such characters. Lead people to love us. Do not make them hate us.
,حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ اَلْحَسَنِ بْنِ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ اَلْوَلِيدِ رَحِمَهُ اَللَّهُ عَنْ أَبِي اَلْخَطَّابِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اَللَّهِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ قَالَ
سَلَّمْنَا عَلَى أَبِي عَبْدِ اَللَّهِ ع بِمِنًى ثُمَّ قُلْتُ يَا اِبْنَ رَسُولِ اَللَّهِ إِنَّا قَوْمٌ مُجْتَازُونَ لَسْنَا نُطِيقُ هَذَا اَلْمَجْلِسَ مِنْكَ كُلَّمَا أَرَدْنَاهُ فَأَوْصِنَا قَالَ ع عَلَيْكُمْ بِتَقْوَى اَللَّهِ وَ صِدْقِ اَلْحَدِيثِ وَ أَدَاءِ اَلْأَمَانَةِ وَ حُسْنِ اَلصُّحْبَةِ لِمَنْ صَحِبَكُمْ وَ إِفْشَاءِ اَلسَّلاَمِ وَ إِطْعَامِ اَلطَّعَامِ صَلُّوا فِي مَسَاجِدِهِمْ وَ عُودُوا مَرْضَاهُمْ وَ اِتَّبِعُوا جَنَائِزَهُمْ فَإِنَّ أَبِي حَدَّثَنِي أَنَّ شِيعَتَنَا أَهْلَ اَلْبَيْتِ كَانُوا خِيَارَ مَنْ كَانُوا مِنْهُمْ إِنْ كَانَ فَقِيهٌ كَانَ مِنْهُمْ وَ إِنْ كَانَ مُؤَذِّنٌ كَانَ مِنْهُمْ وَ إِنْ كَانَ إِمَامٌ كَانَ مِنْهُمْ وَ إِنْ كَانَ صَاحِبُ أَمَانَةٍ كَانَ مِنْهُمْ وَ إِنْ كَانَ صَاحِبُ وَدِيعَةٍ كَانَ مِنْهُمْ وَ كَذَلِكَ كُونُوا حَبِّبُونَا إِلَى اَلنَّاسِ وَ لاَ تُبَغِّضُونَا إِلَيْهِمْ .
