53 – Ḥammād b. ʿĪsā, Abū Muḥammad, al-Juhannī. His origin was Kufan, he resided in Basra. I saw a book in which there was lessons, preachments, and instructions about the benefits of the limbs of man and animals, and sections of kalām regarding tawḥīd, and its title was: Questions of the student and its composition (or: categorization) (masā’il al-talmīdh wa taṣnīfih) from Jaʿfar b. Muḥammad b. ʿAlī عليهم السbم . And beneath its title in the handwriting of al-Ḥusayn b. Aḥmad b. Shaybān al-Qazwīnī: The student is Ḥammād b. ʿĪsā, and this book is his, he asked Jaʿfar عليه السلام about these questions and he answered him.
