“Abu Ja‘far (a.s.), has said that about the case of a man who had a sheep told his people, ‘If you eat all of it, it then is yours; but if you could not eat, then you must pay such and such amount.’ ’ Amir al-Mu’minin, Ali, issued a judgment that said, ‘It is invalid. There is nothing in eating food, more or less’; and he (the Imam) prohibited it.”
