Hadith 1282
۞
5. Ahmad ibn Muhammad has narrated from ibn Mahbub from Yunus ibn Ya’qub from Sulayman ibn Khalid who has said the following
“I once attended dinner with abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), in the summer and they brought a table-spread with bread inside it and a bowl of Tharid (bread made in pieces in broth) and meat. He (the Imam) said, ‘Come for food.’ I went close. He (the Imam) placed his hand in it and pulled back saying, ‘I seek refuge with Allah against fire, I seek protection with Allah against fire, I seek protection with Allah against fire. We cannot bear this, how the fire will be, we cannot bear with this, how the fire will be, we cannot bear with this, how the fire will be.’ He (the Imam) kept repeating it until it became possible to eat the food. He (the Imam) ate and we ate with him.’”
