Hadith 989
1. Abu Ali al-Ash‘ariy has narrated from Muhammad ibn ‘Abd al-Jabbar from Muhammad ibn Salim from Ahmad ibn al-Nadr from ‘Amr ibn Shamir in a marfu‘ manner has said the following
“The Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, once in one of his speeches said, ‘After me there will come a year when the believing person will eat (an amount needed) for one stomach and the unbelievers will eat (as if needed) for seven stomachs.”’
أَبُو عَلِيٍّ الْأَشْعَرِيُّ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْجَبَّارِ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سَالِمٍ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ النَّضْرِ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ شِمْرٍ يَرْفَعُهُ قَالَ
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ( صلى الله عليه وآله ) فِي كَلَامٍ لَهُ سَيَكُونُ مِنْ بَعْدِي سَنَةٌ يَأْكُلُ الْمُؤْمِنُ فِي مِعَاءٍ وَاحِدٍ وَ يَأْكُلُ الْكَافِرُ فِي سَبْعَةِ أَمْعَاءٍ .

Hadith 990
2. A number of our people have narrated from Sahl ibn Ziyad Muhammad ibn Sinan from ibn Muskan from abu Basir who has said the following
“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘Overeating is undesirable.’”
عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سِنَانٍ عَنِ ابْنِ مُسْكَانَ عَنْ أَبِي بَصِيرٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) قَالَ
كَثْرَةُ الْأَكْلِ مَكْرُوهٌ .

Hadith 991
3. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from al-Nawfaliy from al-Sakuniy who has said the following
“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, has said, ‘The most evil companion for religion is a coward heart, very spacious stomach and intense sexual desire.’”
عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ النَّوْفَلِيِّ عَنِ السَّكُونِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) قَالَ
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ( صلى الله عليه وآله ) بِئْسَ الْعَوْنُ عَلَى الدِّينِ قَلْبٌ نَخِيبٌ وَ بَطْنٌ رَغِيبٌ وَ نَعْظٌ شَدِيدٌ .

Hadith 992
4. Humayd ibn Ziyad has narrated from al-Hassan ibn Muhammad ibn Sama‘ah from Wuhayb ibn Hafs from abu Basir who has said the following
“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), once said to me, ‘O abu Muhammad, the stomach becomes excessive in its eating. A servant is nearest to Allah, most Majestic, most Glorious, when his stomach is empty and light. The most hated condition of a servant to Allah, most Majestic, most Glorious, is when his stomach is full.’”
حُمَيْدُ بْنُ زِيَادٍ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سَمَاعَةَ عَنْ وُهَيْبِ بْنِ حَفْصٍ عَنْ أَبِي بَصِيرٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) قَالَ
قَالَ لِي يَا أَبَا مُحَمَّدٍ إِنَّ الْبَطْنَ لَيَطْغَى مِنْ أَكْلِهِ وَ أَقْرَبُ مَا يَكُونُ الْعَبْدُ مِنَ اللَّهِ جَلَّ وَ عَزَّ إِذَا خَفَّ بَطْنُهُ وَ أَبْغَضُ مَا يَكُونُ الْعَبْدُ إِلَى اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ إِذَا امْتَلَأَ بَطْنُهُ .

Hadith 993
5. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from al-Nawfaliy from al-Sakuniy who has said the following
“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has stated this Hadith. Abu Dharr, may Allah grant him mercy, has said, that the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, has said, ‘The one among you with the longest belching will be hungry for the longest time on the Day of Judgment.’”
عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ النَّوْفَلِيِّ عَنِ السَّكُونِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) قَالَ
قَالَ أَبُو ذَرٍّ رَحِمَهُ اللَّهُ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ( صلى الله عليه وآله ) أَطْوَلُكُمْ جُشَاءً فِي الدُّنْيَا أَطْوَلُكُمْ جُوعاً فِي الْآخِرَةِ أَوْ قَالَ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ .

Hadith 994
6. Through the same chain of narrators as that of the previous Hadith the following is narrated
‘Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, has said, ‘When you belch then do not make it loud.’”
وَ بِإِسْنَادِهِ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) قَالَ
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ( صلى الله عليه وآله ) إِذَا تَجَشَّأْتُمْ فَلَا تَرْفَعُوا جُشَاءَكُمْ .

Hadith 995
7. Through the same chain of narrators as that of the previous Hadith the following is narrated from A number of our people from Ahmad ibn abu ‘Abd Allah from Muhammad ibn ‘Isa al-Yaqtiniy from ‘Ubayd Allah al-Dihqan from Durust from ‘Abd Allah ibn Sinan who has said the following
“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘Eating on a full stomach can cause leprosy (albinism).”’
عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى الْيَقْطِينِيِّ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ الدِّهْقَانِ عَنْ دُرُسْتَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ سِنَانٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) قَالَ
الْأَكْلُ عَلَى الشِّبَعِ يُورِثُ الْبَرَصَ .

Hadith 996
8. It is narrated from the narrator of the previous Hadith from Muhammad ibn Ali from ibn Sinan from those whom he has mentioned who has said the following
“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ’Every illness is because of overeating except, fever (infection) which enters the body.’”
عَنْهُ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ عَنِ ابْنِ سِنَانٍ عَمَّنْ ذَكَرَهُ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) قَالَ
كُلُّ دَاءٍ مِنَ التُّخَمَةِ مَا خَلَا الْحُمَّى فَإِنَّهَا تَرِدُ وُرُوداً .

Hadith 997
9. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from ibn Sinan from Salih al-Niliy who has said the following
“Abu ’Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘Allah, most Majestic, most Glorious, hates overeating.’ Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘Children of Adam must eat to keep their backs straight. When one of you eats keep one-third of your stomach for food one-third for water and one-third for breathing and never become fat like pigs to be slaughtered.’”
مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنِ ابْنِ سِنَانٍ عَنْ صَالِحٍ النِّيلِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) قَالَ
إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ يُبْغِضُ كَثْرَةَ الْأَكْلِ وَ قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) لَيْسَ لِابْنِ آدَمَ بُدٌّ مِنْ أَكْلَةٍ يُقِيمُ بِهَا صُلْبَهُ فَإِذَا أَكَلَ أَحَدُكُمْ طَعَاماً فَلْيَجْعَلْ ثُلُثَ بَطْنِهِ لِلطَّعَامِ وَ ثُلُثَ بَطْنِهِ لِلشَّرَابِ وَ ثُلُثَ بَطْنِهِ لِلنَّفَسِ وَ لَا تَسَمَّنُوا تَسَمُّنَ الْخَنَازِيرِ لِلذَّبْحِ .

Hadith 998
10. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from ibn Faddal from ibn Bukayr from certain persons of his people from abu ‘Ubaydah who has said the following
“Abu Ja‘far (a.s.), has said, ‘When the stomach is full it rebels.’”
مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنِ ابْنِ فَضَّالٍ عَنِ ابْنِ بُكَيْرٍ عَنْ بَعْضِ أَصْحَابِهِ عَنْ أَبِي عُبَيْدَةَ عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ ( عليه السلام ) قَالَ
إِذَا شَبِعَ الْبَطْنُ طَغَى .

Hadith 999
11. It is narrated from the narrator of the previous Hadith from Muhammad ibn Sinan from abu al-Jarud who has said the following
“Abu Ja‘far (a.s.), has said, ‘Nothing walks as hated in the sight of Allah, most Majestic, most Glorious, as a full stomach.’”
وَ عَنْهُ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سِنَانٍ عَنْ أَبِي الْجَارُودِ قَالَ
قَالَ أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ ( عليه السلام ) مَا مِنْ شَيْ‏ءٍ أَبْغَضَ إِلَى اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ مِنْ بَطْنٍ مَمْلُوءٍ .
