Question of a Man from Abu Ja’afar, ‘Alayhi al-Salam

We were in the presence of Abu Ja’far (AS), so we mentioned what the people had done after their Prophet (sw), and their humiliating Amir-ul-Momineen (AS). So a man from the people said, ‘May Allah keep you well, so where were the strong ones of the Clan of Hashim (AS) and what was their number?’ So Abu Ja’far (AS) said: ‘And from those ones of the Clan of Hashim (as) that remained were Ja’far (as) and Hamza (as) who had passed away (martyred), and there remained with them two men who were weak, disgraceful, new ones in the era of Al-Islam, Abbas and Aqeel who were from the freed ones. By Allah! If Hamza (as) and Ja’far (as) were present among them, they would not have achieved what they achieved. And had they seen them (as) two, they would not have damaged themselves’.
