Optional Salah (Prayer) On Friday

“Abu al-Hassan (a.s.), has said, ‘Optional Salah (prayer) on Friday is six Rak‘at very early, six Rak‘at in midday, two Rak‘at at Zawal (declining of the sun toward the west at noontime), then perform obligatory Salah (prayer), then perform six Rak‘at thereafter.”’

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘On Friday morning, when the distance from the sun to the east becomes like the distance from the sun to the west at the time of al-‘Asr, I perform six Rak‘at. When it (morning) is wider, I perform six Rak‘at, when it is Zawal (declining of the sun toward the west at noontime), I perform two Rak‘at, then perform al-Dhuhr, then I perform six Rak‘at thereafter.’”

“Abu Ja’far (a.s.), has said, ‘If you have doubts about Zawal (declining of the sun toward the west at noontime), perform two Rak‘at. When you become certain of Zawal, then begin performing obligatory Salah (prayer).”’
