Hadith 1234
1. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn ‘Isa from al-Hassan ibn Ali from ‘Abd al-Samad ibn Bashir from ‘ Atiyyah brother of al-Mighra’ who has said the following
“I once said to abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), that companions of al-Mughirah prohibit eating of meat which is dried up in the sun and fire has not touched it. He (the Imam) said, ‘It is not unlawful to eat it.’”
مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ عَنْ عَبْدِ الصَّمَدِ بْنِ بَشِيرٍ عَنْ عَطِيَّةَ أَخِي أَبِي الْمَغْرَاءِ قَالَ
قُلْتُ لِأَبِي جَعْفَرٍ ( عليه السلام ) إِنَّ أَصْحَابَ الْمُغِيرَةِ يَنْهَوْنَ عَنْ أَكْلِ الْقَدِيدِ الَّتِي لَمْ تَمَسَّهُ النَّارُ فَقَالَ لَا بَأْسَ بِأَكْلِهِ .

Hadith 1235
2. It is narrated from the narrator of the previous Hadith in a marfu‘ manner who has said the following
“I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), if meat can be dried up by salting and leaving in the shade. He (the Imam) said, ‘It is not unlawful to eat it because salt has changed it.’”
عَنْهُ رَفَعَهُ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) قَالَ
قُلْتُ لَهُ إِنَّ اللَّحْمَ يُقَدَّدُ وَ يُذَرُّ عَلَيْهِ الْمِلْحُ وَ يُجَفَّفُ فِي الظِّلِّ فَقَالَ لَا بَأْسَ بِأَكْلِهِ لِأَنَّ الْمِلْحَ قَدْ غَيَّرَهُ .

Hadith 1236
3. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Musa ibn al-Hassan from Muhammad ibn ‘Isa who has said the following
“Abu al-Hassan, al-Thalith (a.s.), would say, ‘I have not used anything for food more inducing illnesses than dried up meat, that is, al-Qadid.’”
مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ الْحَسَنِ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنْ أَبِي الْحَسَنِ الثَّالِثِ ( عليه السلام ) قَالَ
كَانَ يَقُولُ مَا أَكَلْتُ طَعَاماً أَبْقَى وَ لَا أَهْيَجَ لِلدَّاءِ مِنَ اللَّحْمِ الْيَابِسِ يَعْنِي الْقَدِيدَ .

Hadith 1237
4. It is narrated from the narrator of the previous Hadith who has said the following
“Abu al-Hassan (a.s.), would say, ‘Al-Qadid (dried up meat) is a bad kind of meat because it softens in the stomach and induces every kind of illness and it does not benefit anything, instead it harms.’”
عَنْهُ عَنْ أَبِي الْحَسَنِ ( عليه السلام ) أَنَّهُ كَانَ يَقُولُ الْقَدِيدُ لَحْمُ سَوْءٍ لِأَنَّهُ يَسْتَرْخِي فِي الْمَعِدَةِ وَ يُهَيِّجُ كُلَّ دَاءٍ وَ لَا يَنْفَعُ مِنْ شَيْ‏ءٍ بَلْ يَضُرُّهُ .

Hadith 1238
5. A number of our people have narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from ibn Khalid from certain persons of his people in a marfu ‘ manner who has said the following
“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘There are two good things that never enter a bad stomach which they do not repair, and there are two bad things which never enter a good stomach which they do not damage. The two good things are pomegranate and warm water, and the two bad things are cheese and al-Qadid (dried up meat).”’
عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ خَالِدٍ عَنْ بَعْضِ أَصْحَابِهِ رَفَعَهُ قَالَ
قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) شَيْئَانِ صَالِحَانِ لَمْ يَدْخُلَا جَوْفَ وَاحِدٍ قَطُّ فَاسِداً إِلَّا أَصْلَحَاهُ وَ شَيْئَانِ فَاسِدَانِ لَمْ يَدْخُلَا جَوْفاً قَطُّ صَالِحاً إِلَّا أَفْسَدَاهُ فَالصَّالِحَانِ الرُّمَّانُ وَ الْمَاءُ الْفَاتِرُ وَ الْفَاسِدَانِ الْجُبُنُّ وَ الْقَدِيدُ .

Hadith 1239
6. He has said that:Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘Three things destroy the body; perhaps kill a person. One is eating of rotten meat, going to the bath with a full stomach and going to bed with old women. He has said that abu Ishaq al-Nahawandiy has added, going to bed with women when one’s stomach is full.’”
قَالَ وَ رُوِيَ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) قَالَ
ثَلَاثَةٌ يَهْدِمْنَ الْبَدَنَ وَ رُبَّمَا قَتَلْنَ أَكْلُ الْقَدِيدِ الْغَابِّ وَ دُخُولُ الْحَمَّامِ عَلَى الْبِطْنَةِ وَ نِكَاحُ الْعَجَائِزِقَالَ وَ زَادَ فِيهِ أَبُو إِسْحَاقَ النَّهَاوَنْدِيُّ وَ غِشْيَانُ النِّسَاءِ عَلَى الِامْتِلَاءِ .

Hadith 1240
7. It is narrated from the narrator of the previous Hadith from certain persons of his people in a marfu‘ manner who has said the following
“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘Use of three things forms fat in one’s body, another three things cause weight loss. Two things benefit harmlessly and two things do all kinds of harm without any benefit. The three that can cause fatness are use of linen, perfume and lime. The ones that can cause weight loss are eating dried meat, cheese and spadix (al-Tal’). In another Hadith it is meat of the back of the camel and residue of oil.’ The two that benefit without harm are warm water and pomegranate, and the two that harm without any benefit are dried meat and cheese.’ I then said, ‘I pray to Allah to keep my soul in service for your cause, ‘Are the ones that cause weight loss harmful?’ He (the Imam) said, ‘Have you not heard that losing weight is harmful?”’
عَنْهُ عَنْ بَعْضِ أَصْحَابِهِ رَفَعَهُ قَالَ
قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) ثَلَاثٌ لَا يُؤْكَلْنَ وَ هُنَّ يُسْمِنَّ وَ ثَلَاثٌ يُؤْكَلْنَ وَ هُنَّ يَهْزِلْنَ وَ اثْنَانِ يَنْفَعَانِ مِنْ كُلِّ شَيْ‏ءٍ وَ لَا يَضُرَّانِ مِنْ شَيْ‏ءٍ وَ اثْنَانِ يَضُرَّانِ مِنْ كُلِّ شَيْ‏ءٍ وَ لَا يَنْفَعَانِ مِنْ شَيْ‏ءٍفَأَمَّا اللَّوَاتِي لَا يُؤْكَلْنَ وَ يُسْمِنَّ اسْتِشْعَارُ الْكَتَّانِ وَ الطِّيبُ وَ النُّورَةُ وَ أَمَّا اللَّوَاتِي يُؤْكَلْنَ وَ يَهْزِلْنَ فَهُوَ اللَّحْمُ الْيَابِسُ وَ الْجُبُنُّ وَ الطَّلْعُ وَ فِي حَدِيثٍ آخَرَ الْجَرَزُ وَ الْكُسْبُ وَ اللَّذَانِ يَنْفَعَانِ مِنْ كُلِّ شَيْ‏ءٍ وَ لَا يَضُرَّانِ مِنْ شَيْ‏ءٍ فَالْمَاءُ الْفَاتِرُ وَ الرُّمَّانُ وَ اللَّذَانِ يَضُرَّانِ مِنْ كُلِّ شَيْ‏ءٍ وَ لَا يَنْفَعَانِ مِنْ شَيْ‏ءٍ فَاللَّحْمُ الْيَابِسُ وَ الْجُبُنُّقُلْتُ جُعِلْتُ فِدَاكَ ثَمَّ قُلْتَ يَهْزِلْنَ وَ قُلْتَ هَاهُنَا يَضُرَّانِ فَقَالَ أَ مَا عَلِمْتَ أَنَّ الْهُزَالَ مِنَ الْمَضَرَّةِ .
