Thawāb al-Aʿmāl wa ʿiqāb al-Aʿmāl
Hadith 493 حَدَّثَنِی مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِی مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ الصَّفَّارُ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَحْمَدَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ خَالِدٍ الْبَرْقِیِّ عَمَّنْ ذَکَرَهُ عَنْ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع قَالَ: عَالِمٌ أَفْضَلُ مِنْ أَلْفِ عَابِدٍ وَ أَلْفِ زَاهِدٍ وَ الْعَالِمُ یُنْتَفَعُ بِعِلْمِهِ خَیْرٌ وَ أَفْضَلُ مِنْ عِبَادَهِ سَبْعِینَ أَلْفَ عَابِدٍ.
2. It was narrated to me by Muhammad b. al-Hassan who said it was narrated to me by Muhammad b. al-Hassan al-Saffar from Muhammad b. Ahmad from Muhammad b. Khalid al-Barqi from the one who mentioned it from Abi Abdillah (a.s.) who said: “A single scholar is better than one thousand worshippers and one thousand people who repent. If people benefit from the knowledge of a scholar he is better than seventy thousand worshippers.”
