Thawāb al-Aʿmāl wa ʿiqāb al-Aʿmāl

Hadith 252

أَبِی ره قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سَعْدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِیسَی عَنِ الْحُسَیْنِ بْنِ سَعِیدٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِی عُمَیْرٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْحَکَمِ أَخِی هِشَامٍ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ یَزِیدَ عَنْ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع قَالَ: إِنَّ لِلَّهِ فِی کُلِّ لَیْلَهٍ مِنْ شَهْرِ رَمَضَانَ عُتَقَاءَ مِنَ النَّارِ إِلَّا مَنْ أَفْطَرَ عَلَی مُسْکِرٍ أَوْ مُشَاحِناً وَ صَاحِبَ الشَّاهَیْنِ قَالَ قُلْتُ وَ أَیُّ شَیْ ءٍ صَاحِبُ الشَّاهَیْنِ قَالَ الشِّطْرَنْجُ.
10. My father (rah) said: it was narrated to us by Sa’d b. Abdillah who said it was narrated to us by Ahmad b. Muhammad b. Isa from al-Hussain b. Sa’eed from Muhammad b. Abi ’Umayr from Muhammad b. al-Hakam the brother of Hisham from ’Amru b. Yazid from Abi Abdillah (a.s.) who said: “The freedom from the fire of Hell is assured by Allah during the nights of Ramadan except for a person who concludes his fast with an intoxicant or one who is malicious and one who possesses Shaheen.” The narrator asked, “What is this Shaheen?” Imam (a.s.) replied, “Chess.”
