Al-Khiṣāl
Hadith 99810-26 حدثنا أبي رضي الله عنه قال: حدثنا سعد بن عبد الله، عن القاسم بن محمد الاصبهاني، عن سليمان بن داود المنقري، عن علي بن هاشم بن البريد، عن أبيه عن علي بن الحسين عليهما السلام أنه جاء إليه رجل فسأله فقال له: ما الزهد؟ فقال: الزهد عشرة أجزاء فأعلى درجات الزهد أدنى درجات الورع، وأعلى درجات الورع أدنى درجات اليقين وأعلى درجات اليقين أدنى درجات الرضا، وإن الزهد في آية من كتاب الله عز وجل: "لِكَيْلاَ تَأْسَوْا عَلَى مَا فَاتَكُمْ وَلاَ تَفْرَحُوا بِمَا آتَاكُمْ ."
10-26 My father - may God be pleased with him - narrated to us, he said: Saʿd b. ʿAbd Allāh narrated to us; from al-Qāsim b. Muḥammad al-Aṣbahānī; from Sulaymān b. Dāwūd al-Minqarī; from ʿAlī b. Hāshim b. al-Burayd; from his father; from ʿAlī b. al-Ḥusayn (ʿas), that a man came up to him and asked, "What is asceticism?" Imam Zayn al-ʿĀbidīn (ʿas) responded, "Asceticism is in ten parts. The highest of rank of asceticism is the lowest rank of piety. The highest rank of piety is the lowest rank of certainty. And the highest rank of certainty is the lowest rank of pleasure. Asceticism is in a verse from the book of God - Mighty and Exalted: 'so that you may not grieve for what escapes you, nor exult for what comes your way.' (Qurʾān 57:23)"
