Al-Kāfi
Hadith 925مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنِ الْبَرْقِيِّ عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ الْأَشْعَرِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي الْحَسَنِ الرِّضَا ( عليه السلام ) قَالَ سَأَلْتُهُ عَنْ أَكْلِ لُحُومِ الدَّجَاجِ فِي الدَّسَاكِرِ وَ هُمْ لَا يَمْنَعُونَهَا مِنْ شَيْءٍ تَمُرُّ عَلَى الْعَذِرَةِ مُخَلًّى عَنْهَا وَ عَنْ أَكْلِ بَيْضِهِنَّ فَقَالَ لَا بَأْسَ بِهِ .
8. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from al-Barqiy from Sa‘d ibn Sa‘d al-Ash‘ariy who has said the following: “I once asked al-Rida’ (a.s.), about the chickens in a village which move around unrestricted. They may pass by feces freely and eat thereof and about their eggs. He (the Imam) said, ‘It is not unlawful.’”
