Al-Kāfi
Hadith 923عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ الْأَدَمِيِّ عَنْ يَعْقُوبَ بْنِ يَزِيدَ رَفَعَهُ قَالَ قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) الْإِبِلُ الْجَلَّالَةُ إِذَا أَرَدْتَ نَحْرَهَا تَحْبِسُ الْبَعِيرَ أَرْبَعِينَ يَوْماً وَ الْبَقَرَةَ ثَلَاثِينَ يَوْماً وَ الشَّاةَ عَشَرَةَ أَيَّامٍ .
6. A number of our people have narrated from Sahl ibn Ziyad al-Adamiy from Ya’qub ibn Yazid in a marfu‘ manner has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘A camel that feeds on feces; if you want to Nahr (slaughter) it, then keep it in quarantine for forty days; such a cow for thirty days and keep such a sheep for ten days.’”
