Al-Kāfi
Hadith 1737مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَحْمَدَ عَنْ يَعْقُوبَ بْنِ يَزِيدَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْحَسَنِ الْمِيثَمِيِّ عَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنِ عَمَّارٍ قَالَ سَأَلَ رَجُلٌ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) عَنْ دَوَاءٍ عُجِنَ بِالْخَمْرِ نَكْتَحِلُ مِنْهَا فَقَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) مَا جَعَلَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ فِيمَا حَرَّمَ شِفَاءً .

Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Muhammad ibn Ahmad from Ya‘qub ibn Yazid from Muhammad ibn al-Hassan al- Mithamiy from Mu‘awiyah ibn ‘Ammar who has said the following: “A man once asked abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about a medicine which is made into dough from alcohol to be used as Kohl (eyeliner) for the eyes. Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), said, ‘Allah, most Majestic, most Glorious, has not placed cures in things that He has made unlawful.’”
