Al-Kāfi
Hadith 1589أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْكُوفِيُّ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْحَسَنِ الْمِيثَمِيِّ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَسْبَاطٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ الصَّمَدِ بْنِ بُنْدَارَ عَنِ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ عُلْوَانَ قَالَ سَأَلَ رَجُلٌ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) عَنْ طَعْمِ الْمَاءِ فَقَالَ سَلْ تَفَقُّهاً وَ لَا تَسْأَلْ تَعَنُّتاً طَعْمُ الْمَاءِ طَعْمُ الْحَيَاةِ .
7. Ahmad ibn Muhammad al-Kufiy has narrated from Ali ibn al-Hassan al-Mithamiy from Ali ibn Asbat from ‘Abd al-Samad ibn Bandar from al-Husayn ibn ‘Ulwan who has said the following: “Once, a man asked abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about the taste of water. He (the Imam) said, ‘Ask to understand not to harass. The taste of water is the taste of life.’”
