Al-Kāfi
Hadith 1892- عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللهِ عَنْ شَرِيفِ بْنِ سَابِقٍ عَنِ الْفَضْلِ بْنِ أَبِي قُرَّةَ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللهِ (عَلَيْهِ السَّلام) قَالَ كَانَ أَمِيرُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ صَلَوَاتُ اللهِ عَلَيْهِ يَضْرِبُ بِالْمَرِّ وَيَسْتَخْرِجُ الأرَضِينَ وَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ (صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِه) يَمَصُّ النَّوَى بِفِيهِ وَيَغْرِسُهُ فَيَطْلُعُ مِنْ سَاعَتِهِ وَإِنَّ أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ (عَلَيْهِ السَّلام) أَعْتَقَ أَلْفَ مَمْلُوكٍ مِنْ مَالِهِ وَكَدِّ يَدِهِ.
2. A number of our people have narrated from Ahmad ibn abu ‘Abd Allah from Sharif Sabiq formal-Fadl ibn abu Qurrah who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that Amir al-Mu’minin (a.s.), would work with a shovel and dig the soil. The Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, placed date stones in his mouth and then planted it and it would sprout in the same hour. Amir al-Mu’minin (a.s.), had set free one thousand slaves for which he paid from his own properties and his own labor.”
