Al-Kāfi
Hadith 10082- عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ وَسَهْلِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ مَحْبُوبٍ عَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنِ عَمَّارٍ عَنْ أَبِي الصَّبَّاحِ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللهِ (عَلَيْهِ السَّلام) يَقُولُ إِنَّ النَّبِيَّ (صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِه) لَمَّا افْتَتَحَ خَيْبَرَ تَرَكَهَا فِي أَيْدِيهِمْ عَلَى النِّصْفِ فَلَمَّا بَلَغَتِ الثَّمَرَةُ بَعَثَ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ رَوَاحَةَ إِلَيْهِمْ فَخَرَصَ عَلَيْهِمْ فَجَاءُوا إِلَى النَّبِيِّ (صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِه) فَقَالُوا لَهُ إِنَّهُ قَدْ زَادَ عَلَيْنَا فَأَرْسَلَ إِلَى عَبْدِ اللهِ فَقَالَ مَا يَقُولُ هَؤُلاءِ قَالَ قَدْ خَرَصْتُ عَلَيْهِمْ بِشَيْءٍ فَإِنْ شَاءُوا يَأْخُذُونَ بِمَا خَرَصْنَا وَإِنْ شَاءُوا أَخَذْنَا فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْيَهُودِ بِهَذَا قَامَتِ السَّمَاوَاتُ وَالأرْضُ.
2. A number of our people have narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad and Sahl ibn Ziyad from al-Hassan ibn Mahbub from Mu‘awiyah ibn ‘Ammar from abu al-Sabbah who has said the following: “I once heard abu ‘Abd Allah, Alayhi al-Salam, saying, ‘When the Holy Prophet, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, liberated Khaybar he left it in their hand for half. When fruits ripened he (the Messenger of Allah) delegated ‘Abd Allah ibn Rawahah who estimated the value and they came to the Holy Prophet, and said, ‘He has charged us more.’ He (the Messenger of Allah) sent someone to ask ‘Abd Allah if there was reason for which they complained. He replied, ‘I estimated and they can take or we take it.’ A Jewish man then said, ‘This is (justice) the fact upon which the skies and earth are maintained.’”
