Hadith 1123

3ـ عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى بْنِ عُبَيْدٍ عَنْ يُونُسَ عَنْ أَبَانِ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ الْجُعْفِيِّ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا جَعْفَرٍ (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) يَقُولُ الأذَانُ وَالإِقَامَةُ خَمْسَةٌ وَثَلاَثُونَ حَرْفاً فَعَدَّ ذَلِكَ بِيَدِهِ وَاحِداً وَاحِداً الأذَانَ ثَمَانِيَةَ عَشَرَ حَرْفاً وَالإِقَامَةَ سَبْعَةَ عَشَرَ حَرْفاً.
3. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from Muhammad ibn ‘Isa ibn ‘Ubayd from Yunus from Aban ibn ‘Uthman from ’Isma‘il al-Ju’fiy who has said the following: “I once heard abu Ja‘far (a.s.), say, ‘Adhan and ‘Iqamah consist of thirty-five letters.’ He (the Imam) counted them by his hand one by one; Adhan eighteen letters and ‘Iqamah seventeen letters.”
